Dr. Voscopoulos is heading the new addiction medicine fellowship.
It's the state's first program designed to train physicians on addiction and how to medically treat the addicted.
"It’s a huge relief for someone to sit down with a medical specialist to hear that this is just a disease. It takes a burden off, and it helps families as well. Maybe that initial conversation, organic life of its own." said Dr. Voscopoulos.
Southern Hills' new program is scheduled to start in June, a move that could forever change how the opioid epidemic is fought here at home.
